You will need:

  • watercolour paints
  • watercolour paper
  • brushes, preferably large

Notes:

  • There are several methods of doing a wash and gradients, including how to achieve a seamless, full-page wash. You can find these videos on YouTube.
  • Can be deliberate and controlled or done in a more uncontrolled fashion.
  • Often used as a background for more detailed work, or to fill large spaces.
  • Can be used wet in wet to create more flowing and uncontrolled effects.
  • Use salt or drops of rubbing alcohol to impact the effect.
