- paper or cardstock
- colouring and drawing media of choice - coloured pencils, paint, markers
- natural materials - leaves, stones, twigs, etc.
- found objects - keys, bottle caps, fabric scraps, etc.
- string or wire
- adhesives - glue, tape
- the requisite furniture to display your pieces on
Do:
- Create a series of short poems just a few lines each focused on whatever theme you choose.
- For each poem, fashion a visual representation of some kind using paper, natural materials, found objects, etc.
- These could be collage, sculpture, or other arrangements.
- Add tactile elements to the visual representations using materials such as fabrics, sandpaper, other textured items.
- Find a place to display the project and share!
Notes:
- You could also include audio elements like sound effects, or record yourself reading the poems.
- You can do 2D visuals, but if you'd prefer something more than just creating visuals for your non-poetic parts, you could include dishes filled with specific items related to the poems - like a small bowl full of shells for an ocean themed poem, an arrangement of related objects, etc.
- You can use string or wire to hang elements of your display so you aren't just limited to table top displays.
- If you make this project public, consider adding interactive elements that allow the viewers to participate - like a sketchbook and drawing materials so they can add their own poems or visual elements.
