Quilling

You will need:

  • Quilling paper strips (or strips cut from coloured paper)
  • Slotted quilling tool (or a toothpick)
  • Adhesive suitable for delicate paper work
  • Tweezers (optional)
  • Quilling board (optional)
  • Shadow box or other surface suitable for displaying the pieces.

Do:

  • Roll a quilling strip using the quilling tool into a coil or other desired shape.
  • Secure the paper ends with glue.
  • Manipulate the coils to create different shapes.
  • Attach the shapes together and/or arrange them on a surface to create your piece.
  • Allow the piece to dry completely.

Notes:

  • You can use tweezers to handle smaller or more delicate pieces.
  • There are quilling boards you can use to create more uniform shapes and sizes.
  • You can attach your pieces to a flat surface or shadow box for display.
  • Some items you can create: flowers, animals, drops, circles, squares, abstract shapes/patterns, and letters.
