Float

|    home

You will need:

  • watercolour paints
  • watercolour paper of 140 lb or better, preferably cotton rag (not cellulose)
  • brushes

Do:

  • Wet the paper.
  • While the paper is still wet, float some colours on it and allow them to spread out, even encouraging some of them touch and blend.
  • Augment the patterns and shapes made in the way the paints dry, and in the ways they mix together.

Notes:

  • Use pens, markers, and coloured pencils - or something more inventive - to draw into your piece after it's dry.
  • Consider using watercolour pencils to draw in some marks while the paper is still wet.
