- old book pages - preferably with interesting typography or illustrations
- glue - decoupage medium, Mod Podge, acrylic gel medium
- scissors
- large beads or small ornaments
- markers, pens, paints, pencils (optional)
Do:
- Cut preferred pieces from old book pages, like interesting images, text, or lettering.
- Cover the bead in a thin layer of glue or medium.
- Before it dries, carefully wrap and smooth the paper around the bead.
- Allow to dry completely.
- Seal the item in varnish or medium to protect it.
- String the beads for jewellery or decor.
Notes:
- Add unadorned beads, charms, or other embellishments to your strung beads.
- Mix and match different types of page pieces - images, text, other.
- Augment the papered beads with other media - paint, marker, stickers, glitter, etc.
- Incorporate other materials - fabric, lace, found objects.
- Create earrings, bracelets, rings, necklaces, ornaments, decor.
- Consider adding a coloured dye to your final layer of sealant.
