And because I like to archive things all in one place, I archive the collections here, adding the list on the last day of the month.
July
- Make something involving - or about - a maple leaf.
- Make a list of things about the place you were born.
- Create a stop motion film where the letters of a particular word rearrange themselves across a surface into different shapes or patterns.
- Decorate plain cardboard/shoe boxes for storage, decor, or gift-giving by covering them with magazine pages or repurposed wrapping paper.
- Do something you miss doing.
- Arrange a random group of words on a page to create a poem, image, or something abstract.
- Create a poem for a stranger from words found in public spaces.
- Place a small amount of change or a gift card in a public place.
- Create keychains or bag charms using small found objects.
- Transform an everyday scene into an extraordinary one.
- Create a box filled with items that engage your senses, like scented candles, soft textures, relaxing teas, and a good book.
- Make a list of things you'd like to do for yourself. Do one.
- Leave a bouquet of flowers or small plant on a neighbour's doorstep or in a public area.
- Create a time-lapse of, for example, something growing and augment each image with text or other decoration.
- Favourite flower.
- Make a list of themes for playlists.
- Paint a mural or make some wall art.
- Take a photo of a pattern, like chequered tablecloth or a striped shirt, maybe rough stone or soft fabric.
- Create a story around a random found object, like tickets, receipts, a rusted key, or notes.
- Design your own merit badges.
- Photocopy an image repeatedly, changing the settings each time.
- Start a book by a local author.
- Donate blood.
- Make a list of things to do on your big day out.
- Write one-sentence stories based on things you've overheard.
- What is your worst fear?
- Cut out images, text, shapes, patterns, and textures from various print media, paste them into sturdy card, and attach them to a metal ring. Add to it when you find something new. Voila! Instant inspiration!
- Create a library of lost things, art pieces that tell the stories of discarded or misplaced items.
- Make note of random names of businesses, text on posters, random other bits of text that come into view, and use them to create a written piece - such as a poem. You can use a notebook, app, or take a picture to keep track.
- Draw winding paths and fill them with tiny stories.
- Make a list of things to start.
